The pictures below show an
operation on a Water Buffalo (Gamusa) that had been straining
to
give
birth
but couldn't. On examination our resident vet found that the uterus was twisted (uterine torsion). This
meant that we had
no choice but to carry out an emergency caesarian section.
The baby was found to be dead inside surrounded by an extremely
large amount of bloody fluid. After removing the baby and all
the bloody fluid we had to flip the uterus over to get it
back into the right place, which was no
easy task as it was so large, but we managed it. The pictures
below from left to right show the Gamusa before, during and
recovering after the operation. |

Braveheart
a very lucky Donkey
This is a very well looked after donkey, thanks to its regular visits ACE, but even the best looked after animal comes off worst in an accident with a truck. We cannot stop accidents but we were there to attend to his injuries and he has now made a full recovery. |
