The Animals

We set up ACE initially to help the working animals of Luxor, and this is still the majority of our work.  However, we just cannot turn a blind eye to the other animals that need our help: the cats, dogs, tortoises, camels, and even wild animals.  We also give emergency treatment for any farm animal struggling to give birth. 

Sadly we do not have the facilities to be a re-homing center.  The number of feral cats and dogs in Luxor are a huge problem, and rehoming them all would be an impossible task.  Due to the laws of ownership here in Egypt a spaying and neutering programme would not work.  We do what we can to convince owners to neuter their animals and rehome/neuter any strays that are brought to us.  However, we acknowledge that it is another uphill battle we will continue fighting.

We are the only Veterinary facility in Luxor for all these animals, and we work to UK Veterinary standards.  We have the operating facilities, and fully trained full time staff to be able to perform complex surgeries, as well as volunteers, visiting vets and specialist vets from around the world to help us constantly learn more, and keep abreast of advances in medicine and treatments.
