A Ray of Hope

In Luxor you often see many dogs running around the streets needing a good home. We would like to tell you about 4 men (Ahmed, Khaild, Abdo M and Abdo H) and a wonderful lady called Maria Woodyatt who has written the following story.
"The men work guarding a building site in Luxor. Whilst working in the streets helping the animals in Luxor I came across two dogs called Bushka and Tushka. I began working with the four men who owned them guiding them on how to meet all of their dogs needs. Ahmed agreed for me to take Bushka to ACE to be spayed which is unusual for an Egyptian to agree to due to their culture. Bushka has thrived since the operation and she has put on weight and is enjoying her freedom from having endless litters of pup's.

Ahmed, also has rescued dogs from the streets who were in desperate need. One being Cheron who was a small puppy wondering past the building site. Ahmed realised he was lost and managed to get Tushka to accept him as one of her puppies and together they nursed him to health. Cheron is now a huge boy, who loves lots of play and cuddles.

Recently Ahmed saw another dog walking past with an awful eye injury which we think was sustained from fighting with another dog. Ahmed rang me in England to tell me and I was then able to contact the vets at ACE who were able to operate saving Rex's eye whilst neutering him at the same time. Rex now lives with Buhska, Tushka and Cheron on the building site.

Compared to life of many English dogs, Bushka, Tushka and Cheron may appear to have primitive life, sleeping in the sand but I can assure you that these 4 men are wonderful owners. They ensure the dogs have fresh food and water every day, they use all of the flea and worming treatments, collars and leads they are given, they regularly shower them especially during the summer to keep them cool and most importantly they love and respect their dogs.
I would like to thank ACE for all of their support and medical treatment they have given to these beautiful dogs and to Julie Clarke (a long term ACE volunteer and supporter) who regularly checks on them taking bags of dogs biscuits but most importantly a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the men for giving these 3 very lucky dogs a good home and being an inspiration and role model to other Egyptians."

ACE would also like to thank Maria for all her hard work raising funds for ACE and also for her tremendous work with the owners of numerous animals in Luxor, helping them help their animals. Thank you Maria - you are one in a million!
