Maintenance
ACE teach people to keep coming back regularly, not only for the washing facilities, but to have their animals feet and teeth checked as well as their overall general condition reviewed by a qualified Vet working to UK standards. We also encourage owners to bring their animals in regularly for worming treatment. To the untrained eye a donkey or horse may look quite plump, but often this is more likely due to a belly full of worms.
We spend a large amount on wormers, however, it is impossible to ensure that all animals are wormed regularly and as necessary. But we are doing all that we can. A wormer for a horse or donkey costs approximately 40LE (£5). We administer on average 150 wormers per month. So you can see that even with a small monthly donation you can make a big difference to an animals life.
The pictures below, are to give you some idea of our out-patient work. The cat was getting its regular de-matting of its long hair, and teeth cleaned. Something only possible under anaesthetic. ACE has the only small animal Veterinary facility in service in Upper Egypt that offers a free service to the local poor people.
