The History of ACE

Julie WartenbergJ Watenberg

Julie has also been a keen animal lover all her life.  Originally volunteering and raising funds for IFAW, then becoming Office Manager and head of Education and Events.  On retirement from IFAW, Julie was able to help Kim in setting up ACE and in September 2000 set up a UK charity to fund-raise and help financially support the work being achieved by ACE in Egypt.  On 31 October 2010, after 10 years with ACE, Julie has now retired.

Kim Taylor

As Kim had spent most of her adolescent life working in stable yards and her first three years working for a small animal veterinary practice and woking with veterinary surgeon's, her main interest is and always has been animal welfare.

Kim visited Egypt on many holiday trips in the early 1990's, and having had horses of her own and with her experience of working with the Vets in England, struggled to visiting and spending her time in all the temples and tombs, when all she could see were the animals.  She immediately saw the desperate need for the horses, donkeys and animals of Egypt.  The idea of a washing service to promote preventative medicine was born.  She gave up her job and life with her family in England to run the ACE centre in Luxor.
